Transit Service Keeps People Moving
The Chisago-Isanti County Heartland Express offers public transit in rural areas and cities throughout its two service counties. Anyone can use their service to ride to work, school, college, medical appointments, shopping, day care outings, volunteer work, senior dining sites, beauty or barber shops, restaurants, and more.
The state funds the Heartland Express with joint support from Chisago and Isanti Counties. The transportation agency’s mission is to provide prompt, friendly, cost-effective service and to maintain its position as a leader in the transit system.

Fares & Service
Fares start as low as 75 cents for some in-city routes to a few dollars, depending on the destination and “zone” of travel required. Bus drivers cannot make change.
Heartland Express advises that for the best service, riders should schedule service by 2:00 pm the day before their appointment. Any children younger than seven years must be accompanied by an adult. Riders have no restrictions or requirements about how often they ride. All buses are wheelchair accessible and are driven by commercially licensed drivers who have taken defensive driving and sensitivity training.
Heartland Express has extended their north Chisago County bus route up to Pine City to the Pine Technical & Community College and also to the Pine City Wal-Mart. Cambridge residents would have to transfer buses in North Branch.
