Chalk Art Contest Rules:
One winner from each age group: Ages 0-6 | Ages 7-11 | Ages 12-17 | Ages 18+
You must register on the day of the event before starting. You may register beginning at 10am and must be done with your art by 2:30pm.
At 3pm, the judge will begin calling the winners on the phone numbers provided. Winners will need to pick up their prize basket either same day from the Art Fair or a later date from Cambridge City Hall.
Spaces will be assigned at registration. Some spaces have may have cracks or texture variations. One space per artist/participant.
If youth artist, adults can be near to cheer on but cannot help with drawing.
Chalk will be provided to those who register. If you need additional colors, you may bring your own. Only chalk can used for drawings. No paint, crayon, ink or other non-washable or permanent products will be allowed. Use of any non-chalk or non-washable products will disqualify the art and artwork and artist will be responsible for cost of clean-up. Any non-chalk props or items used in the artwork will exclude art from judging. No spray chalk or marking chalk may be used. No fixatives may be used on the chalk drawings. Chalk may be crushed and diluted in water to assist the artist.
Chalk art only to be produced in designated and assigned areas.
The art created must be suitable for public and family viewing. Art Fair Coordinators reserve the right to refuse, stop or eliminate objectionable art.
Art Fair Coordinators will use photographs and video to record the event, artist designs and artists.
If reproducing an image originally created by another artist (living or deceased), please credit the original artist and the title at the base of your work.
EVENT WILL GO ON RAIN OR SHINE! Artists are responsible for protecting their chalk art. Plastic drapes, tape, tents or canopies can be used as needed, no more than 10’x10’. If raining, please notify staff when complete so we can take a photo to preserve your art!
