City of Cambridge Parks Employee Promoted
At their January 22nd Council meeting, City Council voted 4/0 to promote Parks Employee Lucas Milz to the newly created Assistant Public Works Director position.
The position was posted internally and two employees applied and were interviewed for the position. City Administrator Lynda Woulfe stated, “although both candidates were well qualified and did very well in the interview process, Milz stood out and the City decided to offer the position to Milz.” Public Works Director, Steve Wegwerth stated “Lucas is a well-rounded candidate, we work well together and are comfortable with each other. I feel very comfortable offering this position to him”.
This position will perform supervisory and administrative work to coordinate the daily maintenance of the City’s public works infrastructure. He will also supervise the street division to ensure resources are efficiently used and regularly participate in fieldwork as needed. Lucas will handle call-outs for snow plowing, snow removal, street sanding, or other public works emergencies as they arise.
Lucas has been with the City of Cambridge for eight years as a Public Works employee and also is an officer with the Cambridge Fire Department. Lucas lives in Cambridge with his wife, Jennifer, children, Andrew (10) and Maeghan (7) and enjoys spending time with his family and friends and fishing, hunting, and driving fast cars. When asked about his promotion Lucas stated, “I am excited to start my new job, I look forward to the challenges of the new responsibilities that this job has, and I feel I am up to the challenge. “
